General provisions

Students’ Self-government Committee of KAU (SSC) represents a voluntary association of the university youth arranged in the form of public organization of youth.

SSC is a public organization acting in the sphere of youth policy, managing the creative and social life of its members, the students of KAU. The SSC activity relies on the principles of voluntary participation, equality of its members, self-government, legality and openness.

Purposes and tasks of the SSC

 

The main purpose of the SSC is to create conditions for the favorable development and promotion of student youth subject to the national youth policy and the Kazakhstan development strategy implementation.

The SSC tasks include:

representation and protection of the social and cultural interests of the KAU youth;
development of patriotism to Kazakhstan, the system of ideals, regulations and values in the mind of the youth;
promotion of national unity of Kazakhstan citizens among the student youth;
explanatory work among the youth as for the reforms being carried out in the republic;
fostering of an active stance among the youth regarding to the civil society and a state of law development;
healthy way of life promotion among the youth;
cooperation with the republican and international youth organizations; 
the youth leisure management;
facilitating the research potential of the student youth;
the students creative potential development;
promotion of the KAU image, development of a sense of love to the university on the part of youth as well as activity with respect to the alma mater reputation enhancement.

The chairman of the students’ self-government committee

The Chairman of the SSC shall be elected for one year at the beginning of the year (before October 1) by way of alternative secret ballot at the general meeting by the group and faculty leaders pursuing the Bachelor’s degree, ACC and the School affiliated with KAU; afterwards his candidacy shall be approved by the order of the President of KAU.

The Chairman of the SSC:

  • Directly supervises all the work performed by SSC.
  • Implements the action plans approved, ensures the students participation in various events held by the university as well as public actions.
  • Represents the interests of students in their relations with the governmental and non-governmental organizations, enterprises, institutions, other individuals and legal entities.             
  • Is entitled on behalf of the SSC to make statements, solicit, sign various documents related to the SSC activities carrying out.                                                   
  • In the name of the SSC shall report to the rector’s office of its activities.
  • Gathers a team of SSC and administers its activities.

Students’ adaptation service

General provisions

Students’ adaptation service (hereinafter – SAS) is created affiliated with the SSC of KAU. The major purpose of the SAS activity is psychological adaptation and informational support for the newly admitted students of the first years of study.

Main activities

The SAS main activity is aimed at the facilitation of the students youth adaptation through:

 

  • the students informing about the history and structure of KAU;
  • ​familiarizing the students with the credit system of education peculiarities;
  • involving the students into the social life of KAU and the city;
  • preparation of brochures, booklets, leaflets containing the information required for the students’ adaptation for the publication;
  • familiarizing the students with the activities of the KAU public organizations (students dean’s offices, the leaders council, debate club);
  • familiarizing the students with the hobby groups and sports groups’ activities;
  • familiarizing the students with the Internal rules and regulations;
  • making the students acquainted with the advisers and academic groups’ curators;
  • making the students acquainted with the deans of the faculties and the structural subdivisions’ heads.

Upon the presentation of the vice-rector of external links and student issues (hereinafter referred to as the vice-rector of ELaSI), the Student’s adaptation service coordinator (hereinafter – coordinator) shall be appointed by order of the President, and further introduced to the SSC staff.
 

The sas basic functions

Basic functions of the SAS and coordinator are:

  • development of the long-term and current action plans of SAS;
  • coordination of the activity of the SEW dean, faculty leaders, student dean of the ACC and the Chairman of the School leaders’ council;
  • arrangement of actions aimed at the first year students adaptation;
  • provision of the consultative assistance to the students on the issues of their rights protection;
  • petition to the university faculties’ administration concerning the financial and moral incentives to the students of the first year who are actively engaged in the public activities; financial aid to the students in need;
  • bringing to the knowledge of the deans of the faculties, public organizations of the university the students requests, violations of the class discipline and Internal rules and regulations of KAU;
  • participation in the meetings of the faculty deans’ offices and the Educational work council on the issues related to the first years students;
  • ability to get access to the information of the deans’ offices and the Registrar’s office related to the data on students’ performance;
  • presenting monthly reports on his activities to the vice-rector of ELaSI, annual report – to the President (at the end of the academic year after being approved by the vice-rector of ELaSI).

Regulation of the activities

SAS interacts with the KAU faculties and subdivisions through:

  • the “Introduction to the profession” lectures delivering by the academic professors of the faculties;
  • talks with the representatives of the deans’ offices, the Registrar’s office about the tuition fees, rating control of the academic performance, teaching process schedule and the procedure of academic and examination sessions carrying out as well as the Retake passing;
  • talks with the library staff concerning the book stock use;
  • with the Students house (SH) director and the Chairman of the SH Council – on the accommodation rules, day regimen, duties and voluntary Saturday works performance;
  • with the KAU clinic – concerning the students’ routine preventive examinations, first aid provision and various diseases treatment;
  • with the SSC representatives – about the social life of students, their participation in different projects and programs;
  • with the LC staff – on the language courses taught in KAU;
  • with the FED personnel – concerning the system of payment and penalties;
  • with the Admission committee – about the career guidance activities;
  • with the officials of the ID and IaCC – on the exchange programs, summer camp programs, centers for the internship and on the employment.

Faculty leader

General provisions

  1. The faculty leader shall be elected for one year at the beginning of the year (before October 1) by way of alternative secret ballot at the general meeting under the chairmanship of the dean of the faculty and with the participation of the Chairman of the SSC among the students with best academic performance and socially active students of such faculty.
  2. The resolution of the general meeting shall be deemed to be valid if there are present 2/3 of the list members of the general meeting.
  3. The minutes of the general meeting for the faculty leader election shall be submitted to the dean of the faculty, and on its base the faculty dean’s directive will be issued as for the faculty leader appointment.
  4. The faculty leader reports directly to the Chairman of the SSC, the dean of the faculty and becomes a member of SSC.


In the event of improper performance of his obligations the Chairman of the SSC shall make a proposal of the faculty leader reelection at the general meeting.

Rights and obligations of the faculty leader

The faculty leader is obliged to:

  • hold meetings of the faculty academic groups’ leaders weekly;
  • participate in the work of meetings, conferences of the SSC and the student core group of the faculty with respect to the outstanding issues of the faculty students;
  • monitor the faculty students’ academic performance, state of the class discipline in the faculty;
  • bring to the knowledge of the faculty academic groups’ leaders the information coming from SSC and to supervise the completion of tasks set by it;
  • promptly provide the information from the faculty academic groups’ leaders to the SSC knowledge according to their specific activity;
  • upon the SSC request provide full report on the results of his work carried out;
  • take measures to prevent offenses and to ensure observance of the Internal rules and regulations of KAU by his faculty students;
  • take measures to fight the substance dependence and drug-dealing within the faculty;
  • facilitate the students’ leisure management; take an active part in the social life of the faculty and university involving the students of own faculty.

The faculty leader is entitled to:

  • enforce the tasks set by the SSC completion by the own faculty academic groups’ leaders; in case of any irresponsibility – to solicit the dean of the faculty and the SSC for the relieving of the academic group leader from his duties and the replacement thereof;
  • at the general meeting of the SSC to make own proposals concerning the improvement of working with the faculty core group and the youth policy development within KAU.
  • in the name of the faculty students to address the SSC administration on the outstanding issues;
  • send a petition to the faculty administration regarding to the financial and moral incentives to the faculty students who are actively engaged in the public activities; financial aid to the faculty students in need (low-income);
  • publish in the KAU newspaper the articles on the students’ problems in the faculty;
  • on his own initiative and as agreed with the SSC to carry out actions in the faculty;
  • have priority of free attendance of classes if the appropriate requirements (excellent performance, petition from the Chairman of the SSC) as specified in the Rules of procedure of the teaching process and internship, are met;
  • claim for the top-priority award of the special scholarship of KAU “Scholarships”, grants and scholarships of the Board of trustees of KAU as well as allowances provided by the KAU administration in various fields related to the student youth;
  • to attend the training courses with the KAU on preferential basis.

 

Political club

Students’ Political Club started its activity in 2008. Its objective is to motivate students, mostly “ International Relations” specialty, for international politics research, participation in discussions, and the development of tolerance. Students-members designed the Charter of the Club, according to which any student who wants to share his/her own point of view on vital problems of modernity and to discuss the acute questions of international politics with other participants has the right to be the member of the Club. The first president of the Club was the student of “International Relations” major Kim Gennady.
The Political Club meetings are dedicated to current events: students make analysis of international conflicts and try to find solutions to the problems which require knowledge of theoretical issues. Polemics stimulates public speaking.

The Heads of the Club in different years were the students of “International Relations” major : Pak K., Alexunina K, Belousov S.,Shramko S., Chernyshev V., Abdraimov A., Fedorova N., Seksenbaeva D. The Club ofen takes part in corporate publications.

The Political Club has various forms and kinds of its activity directed to further improvements of its work. In addition to monthly meetings with planned agenda, students worked at the project “Generation of the 21 century: Problems and Perspectives”.

Discussion “Results and Lessons of the Second World War: 65 years later” was devoted to the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

One of the forms of meetings is “round table” format where members of the Club discuss acute problems.

The Political Club actively cooperates with Diplomatic Club of KIMEP, S.Demirel University, KazEU. These universities are participants of the ModelUN and other simulation games. For example , in November 2009 KIMEP hosted Model NATO game where the team of the Political Club presented the viewpoints of different states on the problem of disarmament; in 2010- Model UN game was held with UN representatives support. Experience of participation in various events, founded by the initial members of the Club, was gone on by the next generations of Political Club members. The students participate in various simulation games in different universities and city organizations.

In 2010-11 academic year students of the Club were involved into the activity of the international analytic group devoted to the problems of South Caucuses and Central Asia initiated by NUPI- Norwegian Institute of International Relations in Oslo. The initiator of this participation was Golikova V.I. - member of this international analytical group. Students Fedorova A. and Chernyshev V.- both students of the “International Relations” major were the most active participants of the project. The experience received by Fedorova A. in the Club gave her chance to enter the magistrate of Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
Since 2012 the Club initiated the Model UN games in our university. Honorable guests have been invited to take part in these events; among them – famous political leaders, representatives of international organizations, including UN. Gradually, the Club came into the international area. In 2013 first time in the Club’s history two members of the Political Club Seksenbaeva D. and Baimukhambetova D. were invited to take part in the International Model UN game in Kiev.

In 2013-2014 academic year the Club went on tradition of discussions. One of the discussion was held in the form of the “round table” with the agenda “Challenges and Threats of Contemporary World”. The dispute “The Country and We in 2050” reveals the students’ interest in the programme of future development of our country, proposed by President N. Nazarbaev. In November 2013 members of the Club Abish M. and Tovkacheva E. took part in the International Political Game in S. Demirel University and received certificates of participants.

Political Club is in the search of new forms of work, thus, former graduates and former members of the Club are invited to the Club meetings. Kim Gennady, graduate of Moscow State Institute of International Relations, presented his dissertation, answered the members’ questions concerning international relations. Shramko S., the former member and active participant of the Club, often is the guest of its meetings.

Members of the Club- senior students share their experience with junior students. In 2014-2015 academic year the 3d year student of the major “International Relations” Abish M.as an active member of the Club gave some recommendations for the first- year students on participation in students’ mobility program. He also shared his impressions on UN Model Game participation held in Rome. More experienced students train other students for UN Model Game for university and city level games (Skorikov A., the 3d course of “International Relations”)

In February 2015 special meeting was devoted to Paris events. The main reporter was Luchkina Evgenia – graduate of “International relations” major, master of Sorbonna University. The discussion was concentrated on the topic “Je suis Charlie – humiliation of believers or freedom of speech”?

In April 2015 the Club together with the Journalism studio arranged the essays competition devoted to the 70th Anniversary of the Great Victory in the war. Mainly the first-year students took part in the contest.

The Political Club is the excellent opportunity for students to come closer to their future profession.

«American Club»

The purpose of "American Club" is not only to increase the students' level of English, to acquaint students with the culture and traditions of English-speaking countries, but also amending moral and spiritual education of youth. Within the framework of goals, the members of the club organize meetings with the well-known personalities, invite foreign guests, and dig in depth of rites and rituals of many nations.

Journalism

"Journalism" is a club that concerns the ways and skills of writing printed materials for the media and the one that deals with meetings with professional journalists. The club carries out its activities on the basis of the principles of voluntariness, openness, initiative, self-management, cooperation and mutual assistance of its members.

This task bases the challenge of maximizing the convergence of theory with professional practice of a journalist. Moreover, the club tends to training of professional journalists for print media, freelancers, and qualified personnel for work in the Kazakh media. Identification and involvement of active and proactive students into the club activities is also a well-posed task of the club. The Club provides its members with the opportunity to receive additional education in such areas as: practical journalism; the basics of journalism; fundamentals of stylistics, journalistic skills and freelancing.

«Business Club»

The basis of the "Business Club" is the development, improvement and coordination of professional skills.

The student club sets itself such tasks as:

Promoting the development and improvement of the professional activities of Club members through collective discussion of actual business tasks; it provides consulting and information assistance to its members, including start-up entrepreneurs.

The other goals of the club concern the exchange of information between Club members; search and organization of business contacts, attraction of reliable partners, seeking clients and professional employees; formation and implementation of joint projects; cooperation with state bodies and local self-government bodies; cooperation with the media.

“English Language Club”

The club has created conditions under which students can communicate with each other, thereby developing their speaking skills. Discussions are held on various topics related to modern life. This allows developing knowledge of English in all areas. Students will be able to communicate on any topic, speak English easily and masterly. Meetings are conducted by a native speaker, on certain days, which makes it possible to hear speech in the original language, without making further mistakes in pronunciation.

Besides the fact that students develop their speaking skills, they are also enriched by new information. The atmosphere of the “English Language Club” is usually very cozy, almost homely. Drinking coffee, you will at the same time overcome your “language barrier” and meet new, interesting people.
Come and speak, because the nature of the language is communication!

Sports club

Sports club carries out its activities in the field of academic classes in the discipline of “Physical education” arrangement and conducting, arrangement of work of the sports groups for the pupils, students and KAU staff.

The main task of the Sports club is to promote healthy way of life, develop various sports and to engage students, KAU and its structural subdivisions’ personnel in the sports activities.

Sports base of KAU consists of:

  • large hall for the team sports: volleyball, basketball, futsal and tennis;
  • small hall for the aerobic, ballroom dance, martial arts and table tennis classes;
  • gym equipped with the modern exercise machines;
  • ballet room for the choreography classes and defile ;
  • volleyball and basketball summer playgrounds;


The sports base is equipped with comfortable changing rooms and shower rooms.

There are permanent sports groups in the Sports club in the following sports:

  • basketball;
  • futsal;
  • table tennis;
  • volleyball;
  • tennis;
  • bodybuilding;
  • aerobics;
  • shaping.

Competitions are held within the framework of the KAU Spartakiad alongside with the match games with the students of other educational institutions and international matches.

Activities are performed with respect to the non-conventional sports development such as shaping and eastern martial arts. The training sessions are held by highly qualified specialists.

For the students to keep in mind!

  • The MCC statements – exemption from the physical education classes’ attendance shall be presented at the beginning of the academic year within one month.
  • The MCC statements – exemption from the state examinations for the 9-th year shall be presented before May 1 of the academic year.
  • Medical statements on illness, received from other polyclinics must be proved by the medical record, statements from the hospital – by the notices from the inpatient department. Such statements shall be presented within 3 days.
  • The (MCC and on illness) statements should be certified by the physician of the KAU clinic.
  • Students are to undergo routine medical examination annually (photofluorography and micro-test, examination by the specialists).
  • Students being registered with the dispensary department in the polyclinic at the place of residence or in the private clinic with the chronic pathology shall be under medical treatment twice a year (in autumn and in spring) and present the statement to the KAU clinic doctor.
  • Students of ages subject to the decree must be immunized.

The Students house

The Students’ House is well-equipped for 840 places, where major repairs were carried out with the introduction of modern technological processes and the use of high-quality building materials. There are common rooms equipped with all appliances for cooking, laundry rooms, computer rooms with Internet access, recreation rooms equipped with electrical equipment, reading rooms, fitness room, gym, mock studio, cafeteria in the House of Students.
 

It is also equipped with CCTV cameras inside and on the territory. The recording is made on each floor and is monitored by guards. The building of the Students' House and the adjacent territory are guarded around the clock by the IOC Security Service.
 

KAU Canteen

There operates a modern food production facility affiliated with KAU that serves either students or the staff.

The food production facility was extended in 2000 and today is able to provide 200 seats.

 

There are three food counters operating with the food production facility: two in the academic and laboratory buildings, third – in the dormitory.

The food production facility offers wide range of meals, confectionery and baked goods.

For the convenience of the students there are offered either breakfast or the lunch, dinner and the evening meal.

A set lunch menu is offered for the school students.

4 meals daily are provided for the pupils of the primary school.

Стипендия КАУ «Scholarships»

Условия Специальной стипендии «Scholarships»

  1. Специальная стипендия «Scholarships» (далее по тексту – специальная стипендия) присуждается наиболее одаренным магистрантам, студентам, учащимся МОК, КазГАСА/КАУ, обучающимся на платной основе, но в силу различных обстоятельств (семейное положение, состояние здоровья, финансовые проблемы и т.п.) не имеющих возможности оплатить за учебу.
  2. Специальная стипендия может быть присуждена в пределах:
    - обучающимся магистратуры, бакалавриата, колледжа - не более чем 15% обучающихся от общего числа контингента обучающихся на платной основе каждого факультета (специальности), из них: до 3% могут получать 100%-ную стипендию, до 6% - 50%-ную стипендию, до 6% - 25%-ную стипендию;
    - учащимся Школы при КАУ (5-11 классов), а также обучающимся заочной формы - не более чем 10% от общего контингента факультета (колледжа, школы), из них: до 2% могут получать 100%-ную стипендию и до 4% - 50%-ную стипендию и до 4% - 25%-ную стипендию.
  3. «Scholarships» присуждается: обучающимся очной формы обучения - на один учебный семестр; учащимся Школы при КАУ - на полугодие; обучающимся заочной формы обучения - на один учебный год.
  4. Наравне с гражданами РК специальная стипендия присуждается лицам казахской национальности, являющимся гражданами других государств, иностранным гражданам и лицам без гражданства, постоянно проживающим в Республике Казахстан. Другим иностранным гражданам и лицам без гражданства стипендия в порядке исключения (при активном участии в общественной жизни КазГАСА/КАУ и т.п.).
  5. Для обучающихся очной формы обучения специальная стипендия предоставляется не более 2-х раз подряд. Для обучающихся заочной формы обучения специальная стипендия 2 раза подряд не предоставляется.
  6. Обязательным и необходимым условием для присуждения 100%-ной специальной стипендии являются: отличная успеваемость по результатам последней экзаменационной сессии (оценки не ниже «А-»); участие в учебно-научно-исследовательской деятельности (выступление с докладами на конференциях, подготовка публикаций и т.п.) и общественной жизни академии/университета; пропаганда достижений вуза и поддержание высокого имиджа КазГАСА/КАУ; заслуженный авторитет в студенческой, преподавательской среде. 
  7. 50%-ная специальная стипендия может быть присуждена по тем же критериям, что и 100%-ная стипендия, но только обучающимся, имеющим по итогам последней экзаменационной сессии, как правило, одну оценку «В».
  8. 25%-ная специальная стипендия может быть присуждена по тем же критериям, что и 100% и 50%-ная стипендия, но только обучающимся, имеющим по итогам последней экзаменационной сессии, как правило, две оценки «В».
  9. 100%-ная или 50%-ная или 25%-ная специальная стипендия может быть присуждена авансом обучающимся 1-го курса (года обучения) магистратуры/бакалавриата/колледжей очной формы обучения на первый учебный семестр, набравшим высокие баллы по результатам единого национального, комплексного или вступительного тестирования. При условии подтверждения успеваемости в первую экзаменационную сессию действуют скидки указанные в Таблице 1. В противном случае обучающийся обязан возместить полную стоимость обучения за прошедший семестр (полугодие). Абитуриенты, получившие стипендию на I-семестр (полугодие) авансом и не подавшие заявление на участие в конкурсе на II-семестр (полугодие), несмотря на результаты экзаменационной сессии, не участвуют в конкурсе на II-семестр (полугодие).
  10. Обучающимся из малочисленных групп специальная стипендия присуждается только в исключительных случаях (на основании решения конкурсной комиссии).
  11. Претенденты на присуждение специальной стипендии подают на имя ректора заявление на специальном бланке утвержденной формы в установленные Календарем контрольных мероприятий сроки с указанием причин материальных затруднений. Бланки заявлений для участия в конкурсе на присуждение специальной стипендии выдаются ответственным специалистом офиса Регистратора всем обучающимся, считающимся подходящими по критериям, определенным в Положении для претендентов и желающим участвовать в конкурсе на присуждение специальной стипендии. Выдача заявлений регистрируется в специальном журнале. Заявления, не участвовавшие в конкурсе, должны быть возвращены в офис Регистратора с отметкой о возврате в этом же журнале. Выдача заявлений прекращается за 5 дней до начала заседания конкурсной комиссии. К заявлению в обязательном порядке прилагаются соответствующие документы, минимальный перечень которых определен в специальном бланке заявления. Для обучающихся заочной формы обучения основанием для присуждения специальной стипендии, помимо критериев в п.6 настоящего Положения, является отсутствие постоянной или временной работы (необходимо подтверждение справками местных органов социальной защиты и занятости) либо инвалидность, длительная нетрудоспособность и т.п. Обучающиеся, оплата за обучение которых производится за счет организаций (производства), не могут участвовать в конкурсе на присвоение специальной стипендии.
  12. Заявления обучающихся рассматриваются конкурсной комиссией, которую возглавляет вице-президент КазГАСА/КАУ. Состав конкурсной комиссии утверждается приказом Президента МОК в начале каждого нового учебного года.
  13. Заседание конкурсной комиссии обязательно протоколируется. Решения принимаются простым большинством путем открытого голосования членов конкурсной комиссии. В случае несогласия члена конкурсной комиссии с решением по какому-либо претенденту, особое мнение члена комиссии вносится в протокол. Решение конкурсной комиссии вступает в силу после подписания Президентом МОК приказа о присуждении.
  14. Деканы факультетов и директора колледжей/ Школы при КАУ в течение двух дней ознакамливают обучающихся с решением конкурсной комиссии под роспись.
  15. Обучающимся, не прошедшим по конкурсу на присуждение специальной стипендии, устанавливается срок оплаты за обучение - десять дней после заседания конкурсной комиссии.

Финансирования специальных стипендий осуществляется за счет собственных средств МОК, КазГАСА/КАУ.

Students’ adaptation service (hereinafter – SAS) is created affiliated with the SSC of KAU. The major purpose of the SAS activity is psychological adaptation and informational support for the newly admitted students of the first years of study.

Main activities

The SAS main activity is aimed at the facilitation of the students youth adaptation through:

 

  • the students informing about the history and structure of KAU;
  • ​familiarizing the students with the credit system of education peculiarities;
  • involving the students into the social life of KAU and the city;
  • preparation of brochures, booklets, leaflets containing the information required for the students’ adaptation for the publication;
  • familiarizing the students with the activities of the KAU public organizations (students dean’s offices, the leaders council, debate club);
  • familiarizing the students with the hobby groups and sports groups’ activities;
  • familiarizing the students with the Internal rules and regulations;
  • making the students acquainted with the advisers and academic groups’ curators;
  • making the students acquainted with the deans of the faculties and the structural subdivisions’ heads.

Upon the presentation of the vice-rector of external links and student issues (hereinafter referred to as the vice-rector of ELaSI), the Student’s adaptation service coordinator (hereinafter – coordinator) shall be appointed by order of the President, and further introduced to the SSC staff.
 

The sas basic functions

Basic functions of the SAS and coordinator are:

  • development of the long-term and current action plans of SAS;
  • coordination of the activity of the SEW dean, faculty leaders, student dean of the ACC and the Chairman of the School leaders’ council;
  • arrangement of actions aimed at the first year students adaptation;
  • provision of the consultative assistance to the students on the issues of their rights protection;
  • petition to the university faculties’ administration concerning the financial and moral incentives to the students of the first year who are actively engaged in the public activities; financial aid to the students in need;
  • bringing to the knowledge of the deans of the faculties, public organizations of the university the students requests, violations of the class discipline and Internal rules and regulations of KAU;
  • participation in the meetings of the faculty deans’ offices and the Educational work council on the issues related to the first years students;
  • ability to get access to the information of the deans’ offices and the Registrar’s office related to the data on students’ performance;
  • presenting monthly reports on his activities to the vice-rector of ELaSI, annual report – to the President (at the end of the academic year after being approved by the vice-rector of ELaSI).

Regulation of the activities

SAS interacts with the KAU faculties and subdivisions through:

  • the “Introduction to the profession” lectures delivering by the academic professors of the faculties;
  • talks with the representatives of the deans’ offices, the Registrar’s office about the tuition fees, rating control of the academic performance, teaching process schedule and the procedure of academic and examination sessions carrying out as well as the Retake passing;
  • talks with the library staff concerning the book stock use;
  • with the Students house (SH) director and the Chairman of the SH Council – on the accommodation rules, day regimen, duties and voluntary Saturday works performance;
  • with the KAU clinic – concerning the students’ routine preventive examinations, first aid provision and various diseases treatment;
  • with the SSC representatives – about the social life of students, their participation in different projects and programs;
  • with the LC staff – on the language courses taught in KAU;
  • with the FED personnel – concerning the system of payment and penalties;
  • with the Admission committee – about the career guidance activities;
  • with the officials of the ID and IaCC – on the exchange programs, summer camp programs, centers for the internship and on the employment.

Faculty leader

General provisions

  1. The faculty leader shall be elected for one year at the beginning of the year (before October 1) by way of alternative secret ballot at the general meeting under the chairmanship of the dean of the faculty and with the participation of the Chairman of the SSC among the students with best academic performance and socially active students of such faculty.
  2. The resolution of the general meeting shall be deemed to be valid if there are present 2/3 of the list members of the general meeting.
  3. The minutes of the general meeting for the faculty leader election shall be submitted to the dean of the faculty, and on its base the faculty dean’s directive will be issued as for the faculty leader appointment.
  4. The faculty leader reports directly to the Chairman of the SSC, the dean of the faculty and becomes a member of SSC.


In the event of improper performance of his obligations the Chairman of the SSC shall make a proposal of the faculty leader reelection at the general meeting.

Rights and obligations of the faculty leader

The faculty leader is obliged to:

  • hold meetings of the faculty academic groups’ leaders weekly;
  • participate in the work of meetings, conferences of the SSC and the student core group of the faculty with respect to the outstanding issues of the faculty students;
  • monitor the faculty students’ academic performance, state of the class discipline in the faculty;
  • bring to the knowledge of the faculty academic groups’ leaders the information coming from SSC and to supervise the completion of tasks set by it;
  • promptly provide the information from the faculty academic groups’ leaders to the SSC knowledge according to their specific activity;
  • upon the SSC request provide full report on the results of his work carried out;
  • take measures to prevent offenses and to ensure observance of the Internal rules and regulations of KAU by his faculty students;
  • take measures to fight the substance dependence and drug-dealing within the faculty;
  • facilitate the students’ leisure management; take an active part in the social life of the faculty and university involving the students of own faculty.

The faculty leader is entitled to:

  • enforce the tasks set by the SSC completion by the own faculty academic groups’ leaders; in case of any irresponsibility – to solicit the dean of the faculty and the SSC for the relieving of the academic group leader from his duties and the replacement thereof;
  • at the general meeting of the SSC to make own proposals concerning the improvement of working with the faculty core group and the youth policy development within KAU.
  • in the name of the faculty students to address the SSC administration on the outstanding issues;
  • send a petition to the faculty administration regarding to the financial and moral incentives to the faculty students who are actively engaged in the public activities; financial aid to the faculty students in need (low-income);
  • publish in the KAU newspaper the articles on the students’ problems in the faculty;
  • on his own initiative and as agreed with the SSC to carry out actions in the faculty;
  • have priority of free attendance of classes if the appropriate requirements (excellent performance, petition from the Chairman of the SSC) as specified in the Rules of procedure of the teaching process and internship, are met;
  • claim for the top-priority award of the special scholarship of KAU “Scholarships”, grants and scholarships of the Board of trustees of KAU as well as allowances provided by the KAU administration in various fields related to the student youth;
  • to attend the training courses with the KAU on preferential basis.

 

Political club

Students’ Political Club started its activity in 2008. Its objective is to motivate students, mostly “ International Relations” specialty, for international politics research, participation in discussions, and the development of tolerance. Students-members designed the Charter of the Club, according to which any student who wants to share his/her own point of view on vital problems of modernity and to discuss the acute questions of international politics with other participants has the right to be the member of the Club. The first president of the Club was the student of “International Relations” major Kim Gennady.
The Political Club meetings are dedicated to current events: students make analysis of international conflicts and try to find solutions to the problems which require knowledge of theoretical issues. Polemics stimulates public speaking.

The Heads of the Club in different years were the students of “International Relations” major : Pak K., Alexunina K, Belousov S.,Shramko S., Chernyshev V., Abdraimov A., Fedorova N., Seksenbaeva D. The Club ofen takes part in corporate publications.

The Political Club has various forms and kinds of its activity directed to further improvements of its work. In addition to monthly meetings with planned agenda, students worked at the project “Generation of the 21 century: Problems and Perspectives”.

Discussion “Results and Lessons of the Second World War: 65 years later” was devoted to the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

One of the forms of meetings is “round table” format where members of the Club discuss acute problems.

The Political Club actively cooperates with Diplomatic Club of KIMEP, S.Demirel University, KazEU. These universities are participants of the ModelUN and other simulation games. For example , in November 2009 KIMEP hosted Model NATO game where the team of the Political Club presented the viewpoints of different states on the problem of disarmament; in 2010- Model UN game was held with UN representatives support. Experience of participation in various events, founded by the initial members of the Club, was gone on by the next generations of Political Club members. The students participate in various simulation games in different universities and city organizations.

In 2010-11 academic year students of the Club were involved into the activity of the international analytic group devoted to the problems of South Caucuses and Central Asia initiated by NUPI- Norwegian Institute of International Relations in Oslo. The initiator of this participation was Golikova V.I. - member of this international analytical group. Students Fedorova A. and Chernyshev V.- both students of the “International Relations” major were the most active participants of the project. The experience received by Fedorova A. in the Club gave her chance to enter the magistrate of Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
Since 2012 the Club initiated the Model UN games in our university. Honorable guests have been invited to take part in these events; among them – famous political leaders, representatives of international organizations, including UN. Gradually, the Club came into the international area. In 2013 first time in the Club’s history two members of the Political Club Seksenbaeva D. and Baimukhambetova D. were invited to take part in the International Model UN game in Kiev.

In 2013-2014 academic year the Club went on tradition of discussions. One of the discussion was held in the form of the “round table” with the agenda “Challenges and Threats of Contemporary World”. The dispute “The Country and We in 2050” reveals the students’ interest in the programme of future development of our country, proposed by President N. Nazarbaev. In November 2013 members of the Club Abish M. and Tovkacheva E. took part in the International Political Game in S. Demirel University and received certificates of participants.

Political Club is in the search of new forms of work, thus, former graduates and former members of the Club are invited to the Club meetings. Kim Gennady, graduate of Moscow State Institute of International Relations, presented his dissertation, answered the members’ questions concerning international relations. Shramko S., the former member and active participant of the Club, often is the guest of its meetings.

Members of the Club- senior students share their experience with junior students. In 2014-2015 academic year the 3d year student of the major “International Relations” Abish M.as an active member of the Club gave some recommendations for the first- year students on participation in students’ mobility program. He also shared his impressions on UN Model Game participation held in Rome. More experienced students train other students for UN Model Game for university and city level games (Skorikov A., the 3d course of “International Relations”)

In February 2015 special meeting was devoted to Paris events. The main reporter was Luchkina Evgenia – graduate of “International relations” major, master of Sorbonna University. The discussion was concentrated on the topic “Je suis Charlie – humiliation of believers or freedom of speech”?

In April 2015 the Club together with the Journalism studio arranged the essays competition devoted to the 70th Anniversary of the Great Victory in the war. Mainly the first-year students took part in the contest.

The Political Club is the excellent opportunity for students to come closer to their future profession.

«American Club»

The purpose of "American Club" is not only to increase the students' level of English, to acquaint students with the culture and traditions of English-speaking countries, but also amending moral and spiritual education of youth. Within the framework of goals, the members of the club organize meetings with the well-known personalities, invite foreign guests, and dig in depth of rites and rituals of many nations.

Journalism

"Journalism" is a club that concerns the ways and skills of writing printed materials for the media and the one that deals with meetings with professional journalists. The club carries out its activities on the basis of the principles of voluntariness, openness, initiative, self-management, cooperation and mutual assistance of its members.

This task bases the challenge of maximizing the convergence of theory with professional practice of a journalist. Moreover, the club tends to training of professional journalists for print media, freelancers, and qualified personnel for work in the Kazakh media. Identification and involvement of active and proactive students into the club activities is also a well-posed task of the club. The Club provides its members with the opportunity to receive additional education in such areas as: practical journalism; the basics of journalism; fundamentals of stylistics, journalistic skills and freelancing.

«Business Club»

The basis of the "Business Club" is the development, improvement and coordination of professional skills.

The student club sets itself such tasks as:

Promoting the development and improvement of the professional activities of Club members through collective discussion of actual business tasks; it provides consulting and information assistance to its members, including start-up entrepreneurs.

The other goals of the club concern the exchange of information between Club members; search and organization of business contacts, attraction of reliable partners, seeking clients and professional employees; formation and implementation of joint projects; cooperation with state bodies and local self-government bodies; cooperation with the media.

“English Language Club”

The club has created conditions under which students can communicate with each other, thereby developing their speaking skills. Discussions are held on various topics related to modern life. This allows developing knowledge of English in all areas. Students will be able to communicate on any topic, speak English easily and masterly. Meetings are conducted by a native speaker, on certain days, which makes it possible to hear speech in the original language, without making further mistakes in pronunciation.

Besides the fact that students develop their speaking skills, they are also enriched by new information. The atmosphere of the “English Language Club” is usually very cozy, almost homely. Drinking coffee, you will at the same time overcome your “language barrier” and meet new, interesting people.
Come and speak, because the nature of the language is communication!

Sports club

Sports club carries out its activities in the field of academic classes in the discipline of “Physical education” arrangement and conducting, arrangement of work of the sports groups for the pupils, students and KAU staff.

The main task of the Sports club is to promote healthy way of life, develop various sports and to engage students, KAU and its structural subdivisions’ personnel in the sports activities.

Sports base of KAU consists of:

  • large hall for the team sports: volleyball, basketball, futsal and tennis;
  • small hall for the aerobic, ballroom dance, martial arts and table tennis classes;
  • gym equipped with the modern exercise machines;
  • ballet room for the choreography classes and defile ;
  • volleyball and basketball summer playgrounds;


The sports base is equipped with comfortable changing rooms and shower rooms.

There are permanent sports groups in the Sports club in the following sports:

  • basketball;
  • futsal;
  • table tennis;
  • volleyball;
  • tennis;
  • bodybuilding;
  • aerobics;
  • shaping.

Competitions are held within the framework of the KAU Spartakiad alongside with the match games with the students of other educational institutions and international matches.

Activities are performed with respect to the non-conventional sports development such as shaping and eastern martial arts. The training sessions are held by highly qualified specialists.

For the students to keep in mind!

  • The MCC statements – exemption from the physical education classes’ attendance shall be presented at the beginning of the academic year within one month.
  • The MCC statements – exemption from the state examinations for the 9-th year shall be presented before May 1 of the academic year.
  • Medical statements on illness, received from other polyclinics must be proved by the medical record, statements from the hospital – by the notices from the inpatient department. Such statements shall be presented within 3 days.
  • The (MCC and on illness) statements should be certified by the physician of the KAU clinic.
  • Students are to undergo routine medical examination annually (photofluorography and micro-test, examination by the specialists).
  • Students being registered with the dispensary department in the polyclinic at the place of residence or in the private clinic with the chronic pathology shall be under medical treatment twice a year (in autumn and in spring) and present the statement to the KAU clinic doctor.
  • Students of ages subject to the decree must be immunized.

The Students house

The Students’ House is well-equipped for 840 places, where major repairs were carried out with the introduction of modern technological processes and the use of high-quality building materials. There are common rooms equipped with all appliances for cooking, laundry rooms, computer rooms with Internet access, recreation rooms equipped with electrical equipment, reading rooms, fitness room, gym, mock studio, cafeteria in the House of Students.
 

It is also equipped with CCTV cameras inside and on the territory. The recording is made on each floor and is monitored by guards. The building of the Students' House and the adjacent territory are guarded around the clock by the IOC Security Service.
 

KAU Canteen

There operates a modern food production facility affiliated with KAU that serves either students or the staff.

The food production facility was extended in 2000 and today is able to provide 200 seats.

 

There are three food counters operating with the food production facility: two in the academic and laboratory buildings, third – in the dormitory.

The food production facility offers wide range of meals, confectionery and baked goods.

For the convenience of the students there are offered either breakfast or the lunch, dinner and the evening meal.

A set lunch menu is offered for the school students.

4 meals daily are provided for the pupils of the primary school.

Стипендия КАУ «Scholarships»

Условия Специальной стипендии «Scholarships»

  1. Специальная стипендия «Scholarships» (далее по тексту – специальная стипендия) присуждается наиболее одаренным магистрантам, студентам, учащимся МОК, КазГАСА/КАУ, обучающимся на платной основе, но в силу различных обстоятельств (семейное положение, состояние здоровья, финансовые проблемы и т.п.) не имеющих возможности оплатить за учебу.
  2. Специальная стипендия может быть присуждена в пределах:
    - обучающимся магистратуры, бакалавриата, колледжа - не более чем 15% обучающихся от общего числа контингента обучающихся на платной основе каждого факультета (специальности), из них: до 3% могут получать 100%-ную стипендию, до 6% - 50%-ную стипендию, до 6% - 25%-ную стипендию;
    - учащимся Школы при КАУ (5-11 классов), а также обучающимся заочной формы - не более чем 10% от общего контингента факультета (колледжа, школы), из них: до 2% могут получать 100%-ную стипендию и до 4% - 50%-ную стипендию и до 4% - 25%-ную стипендию.
  3. «Scholarships» присуждается: обучающимся очной формы обучения - на один учебный семестр; учащимся Школы при КАУ - на полугодие; обучающимся заочной формы обучения - на один учебный год.
  4. Наравне с гражданами РК специальная стипендия присуждается лицам казахской национальности, являющимся гражданами других государств, иностранным гражданам и лицам без гражданства, постоянно проживающим в Республике Казахстан. Другим иностранным гражданам и лицам без гражданства стипендия в порядке исключения (при активном участии в общественной жизни КазГАСА/КАУ и т.п.).
  5. Для обучающихся очной формы обучения специальная стипендия предоставляется не более 2-х раз подряд. Для обучающихся заочной формы обучения специальная стипендия 2 раза подряд не предоставляется.
  6. Обязательным и необходимым условием для присуждения 100%-ной специальной стипендии являются: отличная успеваемость по результатам последней экзаменационной сессии (оценки не ниже «А-»); участие в учебно-научно-исследовательской деятельности (выступление с докладами на конференциях, подготовка публикаций и т.п.) и общественной жизни академии/университета; пропаганда достижений вуза и поддержание высокого имиджа КазГАСА/КАУ; заслуженный авторитет в студенческой, преподавательской среде. 
  7. 50%-ная специальная стипендия может быть присуждена по тем же критериям, что и 100%-ная стипендия, но только обучающимся, имеющим по итогам последней экзаменационной сессии, как правило, одну оценку «В».
  8. 25%-ная специальная стипендия может быть присуждена по тем же критериям, что и 100% и 50%-ная стипендия, но только обучающимся, имеющим по итогам последней экзаменационной сессии, как правило, две оценки «В».
  9. 100%-ная или 50%-ная или 25%-ная специальная стипендия может быть присуждена авансом обучающимся 1-го курса (года обучения) магистратуры/бакалавриата/колледжей очной формы обучения на первый учебный семестр, набравшим высокие баллы по результатам единого национального, комплексного или вступительного тестирования. При условии подтверждения успеваемости в первую экзаменационную сессию действуют скидки указанные в Таблице 1. В противном случае обучающийся обязан возместить полную стоимость обучения за прошедший семестр (полугодие). Абитуриенты, получившие стипендию на I-семестр (полугодие) авансом и не подавшие заявление на участие в конкурсе на II-семестр (полугодие), несмотря на результаты экзаменационной сессии, не участвуют в конкурсе на II-семестр (полугодие).
  10. Обучающимся из малочисленных групп специальная стипендия присуждается только в исключительных случаях (на основании решения конкурсной комиссии).
  11. Претенденты на присуждение специальной стипендии подают на имя ректора заявление на специальном бланке утвержденной формы в установленные Календарем контрольных мероприятий сроки с указанием причин материальных затруднений. Бланки заявлений для участия в конкурсе на присуждение специальной стипендии выдаются ответственным специалистом офиса Регистратора всем обучающимся, считающимся подходящими по критериям, определенным в Положении для претендентов и желающим участвовать в конкурсе на присуждение специальной стипендии. Выдача заявлений регистрируется в специальном журнале. Заявления, не участвовавшие в конкурсе, должны быть возвращены в офис Регистратора с отметкой о возврате в этом же журнале. Выдача заявлений прекращается за 5 дней до начала заседания конкурсной комиссии. К заявлению в обязательном порядке прилагаются соответствующие документы, минимальный перечень которых определен в специальном бланке заявления. Для обучающихся заочной формы обучения основанием для присуждения специальной стипендии, помимо критериев в п.6 настоящего Положения, является отсутствие постоянной или временной работы (необходимо подтверждение справками местных органов социальной защиты и занятости) либо инвалидность, длительная нетрудоспособность и т.п. Обучающиеся, оплата за обучение которых производится за счет организаций (производства), не могут участвовать в конкурсе на присвоение специальной стипендии.
  12. Заявления обучающихся рассматриваются конкурсной комиссией, которую возглавляет вице-президент КазГАСА/КАУ. Состав конкурсной комиссии утверждается приказом Президента МОК в начале каждого нового учебного года.
  13. Заседание конкурсной комиссии обязательно протоколируется. Решения принимаются простым большинством путем открытого голосования членов конкурсной комиссии. В случае несогласия члена конкурсной комиссии с решением по какому-либо претенденту, особое мнение члена комиссии вносится в протокол. Решение конкурсной комиссии вступает в силу после подписания Президентом МОК приказа о присуждении.
  14. Деканы факультетов и директора колледжей/ Школы при КАУ в течение двух дней ознакамливают обучающихся с решением конкурсной комиссии под роспись.
  15. Обучающимся, не прошедшим по конкурсу на присуждение специальной стипендии, устанавливается срок оплаты за обучение - десять дней после заседания конкурсной комиссии.

Финансирования специальных стипендий осуществляется за счет собственных средств МОК, КазГАСА/КАУ.
